on pain.

pain-t2 My friend Stacy Birks recently wrote a poem about living with chronic pain. It is honest and deep. I think it's a wonderful piece of work - it moved me. So, for those who suffer and for those who need to understand, here is the beautifully deep poem written by a beautifully deep woman;

I have almost forgotten

What life is like living

Without the nagging

companion

Called pain

Currents of sharp discomfort

Waves that ebb and flow

Bring with them stubborn

agony

Torture

She seems relentless and cold

Bent on draining life and

Sucking joy at the perfect time

Despair

Only music will soothe

Lyrics sung to me say,

"pain is our mother

She makes us recognize

Each other...

Come on now child

Don't cry"
